JESSICA ALEA, MS, EdD
pre-licensed therapist (fl)
registered mental health counselor intern
Hello I’m Jessica,
I am a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern in Florida, working towards licensing. I am a military spouse, love the outdoors, painting/crafting, and cooking for friends and family. We have two fur-babies and, sometimes, my husband talks me into playing fantasy football with him.
I especially love working with women and girls, helping empower them and know their self-worth. I’ve helped women work through their anxiety, stage of life/existential crises, grief/loss, depression, boundary issues, and trauma. Having been a high school teacher, I enjoy working with and feel I have a good rapport with teenage girls. I have worked to help parents who are faced with teen dating, reproductive choices, parent coaching, and relationship issues. In addition to the above, I have a heart for women’s issues particularly infertility and perimenopause.
I like using an client-centered, integrative approach to counseling including CBT and ACT and am EMDR trained. The teacher in me also loves to run groups and believes that sharing our experiences can help us feel less alone.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in communication and minoring in psychology from Florida Atlantic University. I taught high school for over 10 years and obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Troy University and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida.
